Third project meeting In Budapest, Hungary

Budapest Meeting Sparks Circus Playing Cards for All Abilities

In February 2025, the DiversAbility Circus project partners gathered in Budapest for a hands-on and inspiring working session hosted at the INspiral Circus Center. The main focus of this transnational meeting was the co-creation of a unique pedagogical tool: a deck of circus playing cards designed especially for young people with disabilities.

This new resource aims to make circus practices more accessible, playful, and inclusive. Each card represents a simple, adaptable circus activity—such as balancing, juggling, or creative movement—that can be performed individually or in groups. The cards are visually clear, easy to understand, and carefully designed to suit young people with mild intellectual or physical disabilities.

During the week, partners from France, Italy, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Hungary collaborated closely to define the content, test activities, and fine-tune the visual language of the cards. The atmosphere was both joyful and focused, with lots of testing, improvisation, and laughter—true to the spirit of circus.

The development of the cards marks a key milestone for the project. Once finalized, the deck will be freely available for educators, youth workers, and circus facilitators across Europe, contributing to the wider mission of DiversAbility Circus: to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to explore, express, and connect through the art of circus.

Stay tuned for the release of the cards and additional training materials in the coming weeks!
